Decorating your Prelit Christmas Tree

The Ultimate Guide to Decorating Your Pre-Lit Christmas Tree

Should you decorate your tree just a few weeks before Christmas? Should you put this up at Thanksgiving and then decorate it? Maybe you are one of those people that start getting their holiday decor out at Halloween? When is the best time to decorate your prelit Christmas tree? That is the question that many people ask. And the answer is going to greatly depend on your personal preference. However, one worry that you can put away is whether getting out this prelit tree a month or more before Christmas will alter the life of the tree. Since this is prelit many people think that the more they have this tree turned on, the more likely they are going to see the lights burn out.

The good news is that these lights are highly efficient. Actually, many people find that they are more efficient than the strands of lights that you can purchase on your own. You are also going to find that the life of these lights is rather impressive with many people not having problems with the lights for five or more years. Even if one bulb does burn out, the rest of the strands will burn brightly. So, when should you start decorating this prelit tree?

Quick Tips for Decorating your Prelit Christmas Tree

  1. Start soon! A study has shown that those who have holiday decor up around their homes are happier. So, why not get some happiness into your life and decorate as soon as possible?! You will find that stores start to carry Christmas decorations around Halloween time, so you could essentially start this early.
  2. A traditional time for putting up your prelit Christmas tree is around Thanksgiving. Many people opt to put their tree up on Thanksgiving after everyone has been fed and the entire family is together. If you have a family that you want to be involved, then this is a great time to do this.
  3. When the weather changes! For those who want their home to feel like Christmas, they often wait for the weather to cooperate. However, remember this won’t work for anyone else.
  4. Do this when the mood strikes! You are going to find that if you are in the mood to get this prelit Christmas tree decorated that it will look wonderful. If you are not in the mood, then the tree could be poorly decorated.

Whenever you want to put this tree up, go for it!

Best Ways to Store Your Artificial Christmas Tree

It’s that time of year again. Christmas is over and now it’s time to put away all of the holiday decorations, including your Christmas tree. You might be dreading packing away your Christmas tree and be tempted to leave it up until February. Depending on the tree, disassembling your artificial Christmas tree should be an easy feat. The real question is, where should you store it once it’s disassembled?

Remove All Ornaments

If you want all your ornaments to remain intact, be sure to put them away and store them properly before you start to disassemble your tree. Wrap any delicate Christmas ornaments in a towel or use napkins and a shoebox for safekeeping.

Remove the Lights

If your Christmas tree is not prelit – make sure you detangle any string lights and remove them. Unplug and stretch out each strand to make sure the wires are straight. You can then start wrapping the lights around a napkin tube or empty Christmas wrapping paper roll. This is a great way to keep them from getting damaged or tangled.

If your tree is prelit, this is the time to check for any burned out bulbs. Start at the top of the tree and make your way down to the bottom. Carefully remove the burned-out bulbs. You can replace them now, or at the beginning of the next holiday season.

Disassemble Your Tree

Now is the time to disassemble your tree. Many artificial Christmas trees will be easy to take apart as they only come in 2-3 pieces. Take out the sections starting from the top and place them on the ground one by one. If your tree is lit with removable plugs, make sure to find the plugs and remove them first before removing the tree sections.

Once your sections are on the floor, you can now compact the branches together. Be careful of the lights and cords and don’t force sections to bend the wrong way.

Store the Tree

Some trees will arrive in a box or a storage bag. The original packaging could be used for storage but cardboard could be inviting to mold or mice. It’s better to store your tree in a canvas bag or large storage container.

Keep your tree somewhere dry and clean. Try to place it in an area where it won’t get knocked over and can be placed horizontally out of the way.

Why we love Flocked trees

Flocked trees. What does it mean to flock a tree? It basically is just adorning a tree with artificial snow. If properly done, after the decoration and lighting up, it radiates, beauty, warmness and a rush of nostalgia. There is both an art and a science to flocking and there was a time when both these things must be intricately mastered in order to manufacture this Christmas miracle.

However, these days, to flock a tree yourself, all you need to do is get a flocking kit which can be bought at Christmas stores across the world. Most likely, you will find directions on how to flock a tree in the flocking kit; follow the instructions in the direction and make sure to apply to flock in the specified temperature.

The following tips might come in handy when flocking a tree. Flock the tree when there is as little wind as possible, usually during the day, flocking should commence after the tree has sat in the stand for a few days, start to flock at the top, moving downwards progressively, when applying the flocking mixture, use a back and forth motion, don’t flock the underside of the branches and flock the exterior before the interior.

Flocked trees. Using these tips, I’m certain that you would be able to come up with one of the most iconic symbols of Christmas season on your own. Should You Choose a Real Christmas Tree or an Artificial Tree

Should You Choose a Real Christmas Tree or an Artificial Tree?

When the holiday season approaches each year, many families are asking the same question: should we have a real Christmas tree or an artificial tree in our home this year? There are advantages and disadvantages to both options, and you should consider your choices before making the decision. Here are a few things that you need to know about artificial trees and real trees from a Christmas farm:

Pros and Cons of Artificial Trees

There are several advantages to an artificial tree, such as less mess to cleanup and the tree can be used over and over again each year. Some people find that artificial trees are more cost effective since the tree can be used for multiple years. Additionally, they like the benefit of having an artificial tree that is pre-lit.

But, there are also drawbacks to this type of fake Christmas tree. For example, you lose some of the Christmas ambiance because the tree doesn’t have the nice scent that is available from a real Christmas tree. Another problem lies in the broken lights and mangled branches that can occur when the tree is put into storage each year.

Pros and Cons of Real Christmas Trees

On the other hand, there are some great benefits to having a real Christmas tree during the holiday season. In fact, many people agree that the pros far outweigh the cons of a real Christmas tree, which is why they continue using a real Christmas tree each year. A real Christmas tree adds a beautiful ambiance to the room, and it adds a nice scent that can’t be replicated with an air freshener or a candle.

The environmental factors should be considered with real Christmas trees. These trees grow on Christmas farms, and they absorb CO2 from the air and also produce oxygen. Additionally, there are Christmas tree recycling programs that can be used to make sure the tree doesn’t go to waste after the holiday season is over.

Many of these farmers use sustainable farming techniques, because they recognize the value in protecting the environment and supporting the health of the farm. Trees are planted several years in advance, to ensure the right number of trees are available for sale during the Christmas season.

Another reason that people continue to use real Christmas trees is because of the tradition that the tree holds within the family. It is a fun family event to pick out the tree each year, and everyone will remember the lasting memories that are developed during this family activity.
